Henry, a Doxie mix, is one absolutely amazing guy. Found in North Carolina, roaming the streets with a pack of dogs in April 2013, he was brought to the shelter a severely emaciated 6 lb. His skin was full of scales and sores, weak from several types of infections, and hunched over so severely he couldn’t hold himself up and we could count the vertebrae on his back. Henry, who had lost just about all of his coat also smelled awful and was itching so badly it was almost intolerable to watch.
Yet, Henry was very courageous and had a sweet, loving, and happy attitude about life. His foster mom was as courageous as Henry and allowed him to take up residence in her lap. She took him in and gave him so much TLC, taking him to the vet every few days, giving him all the medications and regular baths he needed, and bearing with him while he at first was so scared. His first week here all he wanted to do was be held and sleep and that’s just what she provided for him.
Bit by bit, Henry made a miraculous recovery, and his true sweet and playful nature returned full force. He began playing with his foster sisters and became attentive and cuddly. Watching Henry progress and his metamorphosis was enormously satisfying for his foster family. Just when they thought they couldn’t be any happier, the perfect family came along to adopt sweet Henry!
