Dogs often arrive at shelters in gut-wrenching conditions. Victims of cruelty, chained up, or found abandoned, these dogs have borne witness to the worst humans are capable of.
A New Chance Animal Rescue is committed to showing these abused and neglected victims as often as we can kindness, compassion, and the love of a good home. We have taken in dogs almost strangled by embedded collars, nearly starved to death, tortured by their owners, and so matted they cannot go to the bathroom. The resilience these dogs show never fails to amaze us. And the work and patience of our wonderful fosters, volunteers, supporters, and trainers in piecing back together their health and, most importantly, their spirit is inspirational.
As urgent as the need is, we cannot rescue all the victims and abuse we see in shelters. Saving, healing, and finding homes for abused and neglected dogs can often take significant resources. Some of these dogs we see at shelters have endured years of torture or have been living alone on the streets for a while. They need considerable medical care to heal and/or behavioral assistance to open up and learn to live in a home.
