We rescue, treat, work with, and care for dogs with many (often unique) medical or behavioral needs. Whether the result of a birth defect, history of abuse, unknown, or other cause, we believe these adoptable dogs deserve a new chance too.
Some of our rescued dogs have orthopedic issues – ranging from untreated injuries from a car accident to severe hip and elbow dysplasia diagnosed under 6 months old. We believe these dogs are worth the surgery, rehab, and/or monthly medication they need.
We also take in dogs who need special training or behavioral support to properly prepare them for adoption. Some of these dogs have been abandoned and on their own for a while. They have never learned that humans are good. Others have treatable anxiety or stress reactions that may have been a result of living in desperate conditions or in cruel situations.
Although it can take a while to rehabilitate these dogs and show them the world they have never known, with proper work, most of them can go on to lead wonderful lives as beloved family members.
We are lucky to work with wonderful behaviorists, trainers, and veterinarians who help to mend these dogs’ bodies and spirits. Together with your support, these neglected dogs can begin to heal with devoted foster families on their journey to their forever homes. If you are interested in sponsoring the treatment for one of our rescued dogs, please contact Sophia Silverman at info@anewchancear.org.
