The creation of A New Chance Animal Rescue was inspired by a dream and dogged persistence of a teenage girl with a deep passion for saving the homeless and helpless dogs who suffer daily.
Fifteen-year-old Sophia Silverman grew up in a home that loved dogs. Her family had five dogs and had fostered over 100 dogs since Sophia was nine years old. But Sophia wanted to do more, and she convinced her family that even more dogs deserved a new chance at life.
Thus, the idea was born, and in 2011, the process began to build A New Chance Animal Rescue, now a 501c3, not-for-profit organization. Sophia’s mom, Sharon Silverman, worked by her side, creating and nurturing the organization over the years.
11 years later, thanks to the unwavering efforts of a dedicated and active base of foster families, volunteers, donors, and community supporters, A New Chance Animal Rescue has been able to give a new chance to over 1,000 dogs, placing them in warm, loving, safe, and healthy environments. Please read about our work and consider making a donation to help us rescue more vulnerable dogs.
