Dane is a 7-month-old 35 pound Retriever/Boxer mix pup who has blossomed into a boy who loves life. He wakes up every morning so happy to say hello as he crawls from his open crate over to both his foster family and his canine buddies. He has worked hard to learn the foster family routine and expectations. Dane is still a puppy so he is a student, but he is smart and doing a great job assimilating into his foster home. Dane is housebroken, has learned to walk on a leash and has basic commands. He sits very excitedly for his cookies. His eyes shine when he is happy or getting a treat.
Dane does well with our cats, but in the initial morning routine excitement he needs reminders to stay calm around them. Dane loves life and bounds though the yard. He loves wrestling with his two canine friends.
Dane was initially quite shy and required a consistent, gentle home to help him trust his environment. His initial timid ways are almost unrecognizable today. But he still possesses some apprehension with new circumstances, so he needs to have a family who can reassure him and laugh with him during those moments.
Dane is smart and alert. He watches the birds in the sky when no one else notices. He loves to fetch and run, but he is also very willing to lay down and relax. He can dissolve into a doggy bed and be very comfy resting.
The transformation we have witnessed since his arrival has been remarkable and so rewarding. We know he will be a loyal, loving, funny and evolving companion.
