Gigi is a petite and sweet, well-behaved Southern Belle! She’s about 8 years old, 32 lbs and a lovely Basset Hound mix. She just needs a little love and attention to get past her initial shyness. She adores humans of all ages and is good with other dogs. She is currently living with 3 dogs in her foster home. As in typical hound fashion, she is eager to be outside with her nose to the ground, so she needs to be on leash or in a securely fenced yard while she trots around and explores. Gigi shows little interest in toys or treats but a little morsel of boiled chicken goes a long way In getting her attention. She loves to snuggle next to her people on the sofa for a good tv session and sleeps soundly through the night and does not need a crate; she’s quite trustworthy in the house. She has never known the comfort of living inside a warm home but settles in fast and has done well with housebreaking . Gigi has a calm, soothing demeanor that will instantly capture your heart. All she needs is love and cuddles, and she’ll be your faithful companion furever. ♥️

Last night we had to say goodbye to our sweet Gigi.
From the moment this girl arrived from KY, she touched everyone she met. With her gentleness and warmth, she was truly one of a kind. Even though she had not been treated with kindness in her previous life, Gigi loved with her whole heart. She slept in bed with her foster parents every single night and enjoyed her couch time and hanging out with her canine siblings.
Gigi was rescued as part of our Oldies but Goodies program. She went downhill very suddenly last night when an undiagnosed tumor on her spleen ruptured. She lived her life to the fullest right up until the end, and she went to sleep for the last time surrounded by all of the people who loved her.
Thank you to her amazing foster parents and guardian angels, Regina Seaton and Jim Oertle, for making her time with you so full of kindness and love. We are so grateful that she had this time with you that was filled with such happiness. Thank you to Joi Alicea for being a true Godmother to Gigi.

But it didn’t go unnoticed that you stayed by my side,
You gave me your best and I know you tried.

I’ll always be grateful I had
a new chance.
